White Booties crochet pattern (FREE)

Welcome to Shush's Handmade Stuff.

Let's start with a free pattern which is suitable for a beginner.  This pattern uses simple stitches with explanations.  I live in Australia and we use English crochet terminology, so I have added a conversion chart.

This pattern is for baby shoes in 3 different sizes with 3 different coloured trims.  Enjoy.

Sole

Using white 12 ply acrylic –
Make 7-9-11 chain

1st rnd  -              2 (hdc) htr in second chain from hook, 1 (hdc) htr in each of next 4-6-8 chain, 6 (hdc) htr in last chain, continue in same direction working over tail to hide it, 1 (hdc) htr in each of next 4-6-8 stitches, 3 (hdc) htr in last stitch, sl st in top of 1st stitch.

2nd rnd -              2 chain, 1 dc-dc-htr  in same space, 2 dc-dc-htr  in each of next 2 stitches, 1 dc-dc-htr in each of next 4-6-8  stitches, 2 dc-dc-htr in each of next 6 stitches, 1 dc-dc-htr in each of next 4-6-8 stitches, 2 dc-dc-htr in each of next 3 stitches, sl st in 1st stitch.

3rd rnd  -              Turn work over and start crocheting the other way – if you work into the front of the stitches facing you, you will create an attractive edge - 2 chain, 1 (hdc) htr in each stitch until end (count 1st 2 chains as 1 (hdc) htr), sl st in top of 1st stitch = 32-36-40 stitches.

4th rnd  -              Turn work again – 2 chain, 1 htr in each stitch to end, sl st to 1st stitch = 32-36-40 stitches.

5th rnd  -              2 chain, 1 (hdc) htr in each of next 5-7-9 stitches, 10 x dec, 1 (hdc) htr in each of next 6-8-10 stitches, sl st in 1st stitch = 22-26-30 stitches.

PINK TRIM
Tie pink yarn to centre back of shoe and work this row over the elastic and any loose threads.
1st row - 1 chain, 1 dc in each of next 6 stitches, 4 x dec, 1 dc  in each of next 7 stitches, sl st to 1st stitch = 18.

RIGHT SHOE
1 chain, 1 dc in each of next 5 stitches, 15 chain, 1 htr in 3rd chain from hook, (1 chain, skip one chain, 1 htr in each of next 2 chain) x 4, 1 dc in same stitch as previous dc on last row, 1 dc in each stitch to end, sl st in top of 1st stitch.
Cut thread a few centimeters away from work and pull through loop on hook.  Tie this end with the beginning of the yarn, thread through work of same colour until well hidden, then cut off excess.
LEFT SHOE
1 chain, 1 dc in each of next 13 stitches, 15 chain, 1 htr in 3rd chain from hook, (1 chain, skip one chain, 1 htr in each of next 2 chain) x 4, 1 dc in same stitch as previous htr on last row, 1 dc in each stitch to end, sl st in top of 1st stitch.
Cut thread a few centimeters away from work and pull through loop on hook.  Tie this end with the beginning of the yarn, thread through work of same colour until well hidden, then cut off excess.

BUTTONS
Add the buttons with coloured yarn if desired.  The spaces in the strap will become buttonholes.

FLOWER
(If you’re using this flower on a very small shoe, use a smaller size crochet
hook so it fits easily on the front of the shoe.)
5 chain, 1 sl st into 1st chain.
All stitches are made into circle made with chain.

1st row            -           1 chain, (1 htr, 1 tr, 1 dtr, 1 tr, 1 htr, 1 dc, 1 ch) x 5, sl st to 1st stitch.
2nd row           -           working behind flower, 1 chain, (insert hook from centre back of petal to front , through hole in centre, yoh, pull yarn through hole and through yarn on hook, 2 chain) x 5, sl st to 1st stitch.
3rd row                -              1 chain, (1 htr, 1 tr, 1 dtr, 1 tr, 1 htr, 1 dc, 1 ch) in each loop, sl st at end.
Sew the flower onto the front of the shoe in between each of the 5 petals so it won’t fall off.  Tie loose threads underneath and cut short.
Cut thread a few centimeters away from work and pull through loop on hook.  Tie flower to front of shoe and add 2cm wide button.

GREEN TRIM
Attach yarn to middle back of shoe and crochet over tail left from last row and this row to cover them up.   Crochet over elastic in this row.

1st row -              2 chain, 1 htr in each of next 8 stitches, 4 x dec, 1 htr in each of next 9 stitches, sl st to 1st stitch.
2nd,  3rd, 4th, 5th row        -              2 chain, 1 htr in each stitch to end, sl st in 1st stitch = 22 stitches.

Roll the last 4 rows down to make a cuff on the top of the shoe. With 2 strands of yarn (take one end from the outside and one end from the inside of the ball of yarn) and make a shoe lace - make a slip knot and make 50 chain, cut yarn and pull yarn through at end.  Thread this shoe lace through the front 8 or 10 stitches and tie a bow.

BLUE TRIM
1st row -  1 chain, 1 dc in each of next 10 stitches, 4 x dec, 1 dc  in each of next 11 stitches, sl st to 1st stitch = 26 stitches.

2nd row -  Turn work and continue in the other direction. Work this row into the same stitches as the last row.  1 chain, *1 dc in 1st stitch, (1 dc, 3 htr, 1 dc) in next stitch, continue from * to end, slip stitch in 1st stitch.  (Treat your decrease stitches in the previous row as 2 separate stitches) (See photo) = 13 or 14 frills depending on where you started.
3rd row    -  Turn work again and add tied elastic in this row.  This row is worked over the first row of dc in blue.  1 chain, 1 dc in each stitch until you reach the space between 3rd and 4th frill, 25 chain, 1 dc in 2nd chain from hook, 1 dc in each chain to end, 1 dc in same space between 3rd and 4th frill, 1 dc in each stitch until you reach the space between 3rd and 4th frill on the other side, 25 chain, 1 dc in 2nd chain from hook, 1 dc in each chain to end, 1 dc in same space between 3rd and 4th frill, 1 dc to end, sl st in 1st stitch.
